It's been a long time since I've been to a JW DC, many decades. But I absolutely remember announcements from the platform about not flushing unless completely necessary. And I remember people taking rolls of toilet paper and paper towels home with them. I also remember the lines so long that one woman pushed herself past everybody in line and went in, pulled her underwear down and sat on a sink to use the bathroom. Honest truth, swear on a stack of Bibles. All of this happened at the 8 day long International Assembly in Atlanta in or 1967? or 1968? I can't remember the exact year. I'm getting confused. But I truly believe my parents saw things there that appalled them for the first time about JWs. They never felt the same about them again.

Restrictions on sanitation supplies at a$$emblies
by WTWizard innow that the grand boasting sessions are well under way, now is a good time to discuss what they are restricting on supplies there.
the "one towel" rule is quite famous by now.
however, i have heard scattered reports that they are rationing things like toilet paper as well.

Is The Watchtower Organization A Cult To You?

Yes, I agree with Flipper. They are a dangerous and very damaging mind-control cult.

Aren't You Embarrassed That YOU Ever Believed Any Of The Watchtower Bullsh*t?

I was a born-in. I can clearly remember being very embarrassed and ashamed to be a JW from the time I was about 7. I don't think I even knew why I felt that way but I knew something was twisted and wrong. My father's family were not JWs. And my neighorhood and school friends were not JWs and I knew they were all good people and they didn't believe what the JWs taught. It's not a good way to feel as a young child. It warps and scars.

I think it was Numb by Linkin Park that I was thinking of. There may be another one too that I've seen on here that I really liked. Thanks Mickey Mouse and all of you that posted a song.

I think the song is especially meaningful to those raised in this cult and taught all this stuff by our parents. The You Tube video has been posted on here before.

Biggest Harm Caused by Watchtower in AllTimeJeff Eyes.
by Scott77 in"jw's are an entirely different animal from manson's followers.
they bleed you slowly to death (literally and figuratively), but the biggest harm jw's perpetuate is the lives that are put on hold for "theocratic" activities.
a rich life is denied its members because of their doomsday scenarios' said alltimejeff, a former jehovah's witnesses missionary in west africa.. in view of the recent generation change and interpretation, please, what do you think about that?
-
Scarred for life
The doomsday scenario that the JWs preach causes its members to put off anything that brings joy in life and creates growth and development within an individual. That is all supposed to happen after Armageddon. So your whole life is spent waiting for that to happen. And then the members that have children raise their children that way. There is nothing to look forward to except Armageddon. There are no accomplisments to celebrate and feel that satisfaction. The mind is not challenged or strengthened. Many friendships are not developed and strengthend . You cannot even allow your self to think privately about certain topics or to form questions in your mind that you want answered. You live your life in a mind prison. And , yes, it is very, very harmful on many levels.

A Question To All on this Board
by kes152 inhello,.
i have been reading this board for some time and would like to ask: why you come here and post?
what do you all hope to accomplish by being here?.

I come here because this is the only place I have ever found that I can talk and read about the way I was raised. There are other people here that understand.

I agree with cognizant dissident. Your daughters' friends and their parents will cut off friendships at the first hint that you are no longer a believer. Your daughters will be "bad associations". Concentrate of developing friends for them in other places. And make sure you look for friends for yourself also. Is there any non-JW friend you have now that you could confide in and tell her what is going on in your life and that you're going through a major transition and need support?
